Kidnapped ex-wife freed from car after long chase through Brabant, police fired shots | Inland

Several police cars and a police helicopter were used in the pursuit. The Dutch police assisted their Belgian colleagues in the pursuit. The car drove from Belgium at high speed on the A58 through Brabant. When the driver went wrong-way, the police fired two warning shots.

The driver then parked his car on the side of the road at a business park near Son around 1 p.m. The victim was freed and the perpetrator was arrested by the police.

Both the victim and the perpetrator live in the Netherlands. The woman was visiting her parents this afternoon who live in Essen, very close to the border with Nispen (near Roosendaal). At one point, her ex-partner knocked on the door and an altercation ensued. The man would then have threatened with a firearm and a knife, after which the woman was forced to get into the car.
