KHL head coach speaks Lions game: “Rich final”

After the opening game, no goal has been scored for the Lions net.

The lions will play in the Olympic final on Sunday against the athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee. The achievement is tough. AOP

  • It is possible for lions to make history on Sunday morning.
  • Finland has never lost in Beijing.
  • After the opening game, no goal has been scored for the Finnish net.

David Nemirovsky has played for nine seasons in KHL and has since served as head coach of the KHL team in Nizhny-Novgorod for four seasons. The man knows Russian hockey.

The Canadian is surprisingly betting on a lavish Olympic final.

– Many are waiting for a low-goal game. In severe pressure situations, the situation may be reversed. Finland and Russia have a lot of scoring power.

The 45-year-old coach reminds of the importance of special situations.

– An accurate defensive game will be played in the final. It can also mean coolers. Who has the patience? Russia’s superiority has not been very good at the Olympics. And superiority must succeed if you are going to win.

According to IIHF statistics, the superiority of the team of athletes of the Russian Olympic Committee is only the ninth best in the tournament. Finland is the fifth most powerful superiority team in the Games.

In the underpower game, the final teams share the ninth place.

They decide

Nemirovsky does not want to directly bet on the Olympic winner.

– I work in Russia, I will not answer, the Canadian laughs in half.

– The Finnish games have been interesting.

Nemirovsky, who knows Russian players well, expects solutions from big names.

– Important players from Russia are goalkeeper Nikita Gusev and Vadim Shipatshev. In a big game, the formula is simple, the best players have to lead the team and stand out.

– Sakari Manninen and his chain play a big role in Finland. They have played well in Beijing. And of course the goalkeeper game, this is true for both teams. All your goalkeepers come from KHL.

Kasken longs

Dave Nemirovsky played at KHL for nine seasons and has served in Russia as a coach and sports director for seven seasons. The Canadian is well acquainted with Russian hockey. AOP

Nemirovsky misses one player in the Lion.

– I really like Oliwer Kaske. He is a great all-around player. He has a good shot and he can deliver the puck to the goal. Kaski is a calm player, then I don’t know why he doesn’t play.

The Canadian criticizes what his country and the United States are doing around the Olympics.

– Building a winning team starts with player selections, I feel like the US and Canada didn’t do a large enough survey to find the right players.

– There are practically five leagues in Europe from which players were selected for this tournament. It’s not much, but that work needs to be done carefully. In order to win, everything possible must be done at every level, Nemirovsky recalls.

Finland all stars

Nemirovsky played in the Florida Panthers, as well as at KHL in SKA St. Petersburg, Moscow TsSKA and Kazan, among others.

In Finland, the attacker is remembered for Ilves and Jokers.

– It can be said that KHL’s Finland all stars and KHL’s Russian team will meet in the finals, the coach suggests that there are a total of 17 KHL players in the Lions line-up.

The Olympic final is a fierce pressure situation for players. In both finals, hockey is a big deal. The game is of interest to people on both sides of the border.

Russia seems to be a place of forced victory. KHL’s game program was built this season to fully serve the national team and the Olympic victory. The media and the fans are calling for a profit.

In Finland, too, the Olympic victory in hockey would be a significant issue.

– I can’t say which country is under more pressure. The Finnish team is calm. Head coach Jukka Jalonen always feels calm, says Nemirovsky, whom media giant ESPN predicted to be the NHL coach of the future.

Russia’s head coach is former top player Alexei Zhamnov.
