Khedira extended at 1. FC Union Berlin

Leading player Rani Khedira will remain with Bundesliga club 1. FC Union Berlin in the future.

As the third-placed Bundesliga player announced on Monday, the contract with the 29-year-old defensive player has been extended beyond the summer. As usual, Union did not specify the term of the new contract.

“Union was my first point of contact because I feel very comfortable here,” said Khedira: “The coaching team, the team and the entire club have ambitious goals and work as one unit; that’s the best basis for continuing to be successful together I’m really looking forward to playing in the Union jersey in the future and giving everything for the club’s success.”

The brother of the 2014 world champion Sami Khedira moved from FC Augsburg to Berlin in 2021 and became a regular there and finally vice-captain.

In the past season, Khedira qualified for the Europa League with Union, and he is currently playing with the team for participation in the Champions League. He has also scored one goal and one assist in 85 competitive games for Union.
