Khalid Kasem disappointed in Wilfred Genee: ‘This is a pity’

Khalid Kasem is deeply disappointed in Wilfred Genee. The talk show host believes that his colleague is painting a false picture of the much-discussed climate item in Khalid & Sophie. “This is very unfortunate.”

The talk show Khalid & Sophie has received a flood of criticism because the broadcast of the day before yesterday gave way to an entire studio full of climate activists. Willem Jebbink, the counselor of Extinction Rebellion, according to AD opinion diva Angela de Jong, has gone too far in the broadcast.

“This is ridiculous!”

Willem called out in the talk show that the controversial regime in Iran is “cheering because they see a Western ‘civilization’ doing it this way”, referring to the fact that climate activists have been arrested because they called on others to participate in a highway blockade.

It was a heavily colored broadcast, Angela thinks. She writes in the newspaper: “I was waiting for this ridiculous comparison to be vigorously contradicted by presenter Khalid Kasem. But what do you think? Of course not. Unheard of, the Netherlands would be fined for it, but at BNNVARA this is possible without any problems.”

scandalous

Johan Derksen also started about this fragment in Today Inside yesterday evening. “It is a shame. It was the clubhouse of the Rebellions. The entire stand was full of sympathizers, the two presenters agreed wholeheartedly. This was a one-way street, unbelievable! This has nothing to do with journalism.”

Colleague René van der Gijp: “And that not one of them says: ‘What did you eat? That didn’t go over well, I think.’”

Wilfred Genee: “The presenter could have said that, couldn’t he? Van: That’s not quite happy this.”

Johan: “Yes, but they sat down and howled along with the wolves in the woods.”

Khalid disappointed

Khalid regrets that VI did not broadcast the entire segment. He texted Wilfred during the broadcast: “Wilfred, it’s a pity you cut the fragment in such a way that my reaction is cut off. After Jebbink’s remark, I said that it is his responsibility and that you cannot compare Iran and this situation in The Hague.”

Johan: “If all people start responding, we will be full after ten minutes.”

Wilfred: “I think it’s so neat to report that, because I haven’t seen that broadcast.”

René: “Me neither. I only saw the moment at Jinek.”

Hélène Hendriks: “Yes, for the sake of completeness.”

Open mouth

Johan continues: “I watched with my mouth open. I thought: how is it possible? There was an audience, but everyone in the audience belonged to one group or another. Even a guy from the FNV was there.”

Wilfred: “But you didn’t hear that he said this either?”

Johan: “Wow, I missed that.”

Hélène: “A pretty important detail, hahaha!”

Wilfred: “Yes, but well, I mean: if we address him about it… Everyone has my number, so you can rectify.”

What does Sophie think?

Khalid’s colleague Sophie Hilbrand had Michiel Zwinkels, the chief public prosecutor, sitting at the table yesterday. “The discussion is quite polarized. I saw a piece of yesterday’s broadcast where the OM was compared to the regime in Iran, among other things. That doesn’t really contribute to a discussion.”

Sophie asks him why he didn’t want to join the climate activists in their talk show the night before: “I also thought that was a very clumsy statement, but is that a reason to say: I don’t want to have dinner with them?”

Michiel: “Ultimately I want to sit down with them and that’s why I invited them for a conversation this morning, but that’s better and more constructive without a camera.”
