Hofland played as a player for Fortuna Sittard, PSV, VfL Wolfsburg (Germany), Feyenoord and AEK Larnaca (Cyprus), before starting his coaching career. He was a youth coach at PSV, later he became an assistant and head coach at Fortuna.
He recently went to Wolfsburg as an assistant to Mark van Bommel, but they were quickly fired there. Now Hofland must ensure that Willem II remains in the Eredivisie.
