Kevin Großkreutz celebrates his wedding as his “biggest victory” – BVB legend as a guest

After several attempts, Kevin Großkreutz was able to have his civil wedding followed by a church wedding. Another BVB legend was also present at the wedding.

As the “picture” reported, Kevin Großkreutz and his wife Carolin waited three years to celebrate the church wedding in a large circle. Due to the corona pandemic, the couple had to postpone the wedding twice before.

On Pentecost Saturday, the time had finally come and 150 guests gathered in the St. Remigius Catholic Church in the Mengede district of Dortmund to celebrate the couple. Among them was BVB legend and stadium announcer Norbert Dickel.

Afterwards, the Großkreutz family and their guests went to the “Alte Kaue” event location to celebrate, where around 100 other friends and relatives were waiting.

BVB legend Großkreutz: “My greatest victory”

Grosskreutz, who was an important part of the successful Klopp era and was under contract with BVB from 2009 to 2015, said according to “Bild” that he was “even more nervous” before the church wedding. On Instagram, the 2014 world champion and 2012 double winner described the wedding as his “biggest victory”.

Under the post, some personalities from the football cosmos also congratulated. In addition to Felipe Santana, who once played for BVB with Grosskreutz, ex-national team colleague Lukas Podolski and former BVB talent Tobias Raschl also left greetings.

Although the 33-year-old has said goodbye to professional football, he can still be found regularly on the pitch. Großkreutz has been playing for TuS Bövinghausen in the Westphalian league since January 2021. On the Friday evening before the wedding, he was still on the pitch for his club in the last game of the season against FC Lennestadt.

In the coming season, the BVB legend will continue after promotion to the Oberliga.
