Kevin Bacon celebrates end of actors’ strike with ‘Footloose’ dance scene

“The strike is over!” writes Kevin Bacon on the video that shows him dancing in a barn.

After 119 days, the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. To celebrate, Kevin Bacon thought of something very special. On November 9th, he posted a video of the “Footloose” star recreating the ’80s film’s iconic dance scene in his barn.

Kevin Bacon is happy

“The strike is over!” writes the 65-year-old to his Instagram post. In the video you can see him in cowboy boots dancing the same steps in an incomplete barn as he did in 1984. His fans celebrate him for the video and write under the post: “I love this so much! Thank you for continuing to fight and bring joy into our lives through music and dance.”

“I didn’t understand that it was a dance film”

Kevin Bacon recently spoke about “Footloose” on the podcast “Podcrushed” and said that he didn’t know he was auditioning for a dance film when he went to the casting: “When I did the dance film, I wasn’t one Dancer. I wasn’t trained as a dancer. If I’m honest, I didn’t even really understand that it was a dance film. I thought it was just a movie and when they wanted dancing, I just stood up.” When asked to work with a choreographer, he said, “It’s no big deal. Just play me the record and I’ll jump around”.

His new film “Leave the World Behind”

Kevin Bacon will next be seen alongside Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in the Netflix film Leave the World Behind.
