Kerttu Niskanen was severely disappointed in Ruka – the Swedes dominated

Krista Pärmäkoski and Kerttu Niskanen were left out of the award places.

Krista Pärmäkoski finished fifth as the best Finn in Ruka’s 10-kilometer traditional cross-country time trial.

Kerttu in Niskase was a really weak day. His skiing looked difficult, and the final ranking dropped to tenth.

One would have expected more from the Beijing Olympic silver medalist in front of the home crowd on a bravura journey.

The Swedes were in a dazzling bid in the competition. Ebba Andersson took the win before the ground Frida Karlsson.

Germany’s Katharina Henning was third. He took the award place by barely 0.2 seconds from the Norwegian surprise Anne Kjersti Kalvån in front of the nose.

Jasmi Joensuu finished 14th and Katri Lylynperä 15th. Jasmin Kähärä was the 23rd

Lylynperä and Kähärä tightened each other up handsomely when they reached the finish line. The Finnish duo raced side by side on the final straight and squeezed the last few seconds out of each other’s times.

With Saturday’s results, we will start the 20 km freestyle pursuit race on Sunday.
