Kenyan Faith Kipyegon has set the third world record this year for a mile.
In 4:07.64 minutes, the 29-year-old middle-distance runner smashed Sifan Hassan’s record at the Diamond League meeting in Monte Carlo. Four years ago, the Dutchwoman covered the 1609.344 meters, also in Monaco, in 4:12.33 minutes.
The two-time Olympic champion and world champion Kipyegon had broken the world records over 1500 meters (3:49.11 minutes) and 5000 meters (14:05.20 minutes) in June.
