Kendrick Lamar has announced a new album. MR. MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS, as it is titled, is scheduled for release on May 13, 2022. The rap superstar announced this on Monday evening via Instagram. On his account, which was empty except for one previous post, he only posted a photo of a letter from his company pgLang. No comment from him, but the info that all further official information about this release will come directly and exclusively from this source.

MR. MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS will be Lamar’s fifth album. With his albums GOOD KID, MAAD CITY (2012) and TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY (2015), the rapper from Compton wrote rap history and is considered one of the best and most influential rap musicians of his time. His current album DAMN. was released in 2017. “The fact that he initially makes no attempt to surpass such an epoch-making album as TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY with a similar work is also a sign of strength: he doesn’t have to in order to remain the best in his field,” ME author Ivo Ligeti judged about DAMN at the time. In 2018, Kendrick Lamar also produced the Black Panther soundtrack. He has won 14 Grammys in his career so far.
