Ajax has brought in the successor to head scout Henk Veldmate with Kelvin de Lang. The 42-year-old born in Amsterdam comes over from the English champion Manchester City. And De Lang has signed a four-year contract. His first official day of work is August 4 this summer.
De Lang does not have an impressive football career on his resume. He mainly played amateur football and played for Telstar for a while. But a professional career was out of the question for him. In 2002 he also started working at HFC Haarlem as a youth coach. He gained more fame through his relationship with Ellen Hoog. He wrote a cookbook with the former top hockey star.

After completing the necessary studies, De Lang went to England in 2017, where he started working at Manchester City’s scouting department as ‘Head of talent partnerships & placements.’

Modern Chief Scout
“We are pleased that Kelvin has decided to sign with Ajax,” says technical director Sven Mislintat in the press release announcing De Lang’s arrival. “We were looking for a modern head scout with knowledge of the current international football world. Kelvin knows what Ajax stands for. With the experience he has gained at City and his competences, he brings additional qualities to the current scouting team. I am very much looking forward to it to work closely with him.”
