Keith Richards gives hope for new songs

The word “break” doesn’t seem to exist for the Rolling Stones. Shortly before the end of the European tour, Keith Richards announced that he hoped to record material with his bandmates later this year. Steve Jordan, who until now has only helped out on stage, is said to be a part as well.

The transition wasn’t easy for Richards. After the death of drummer Charlie Watts, it seemed impossible for him to record new music. “I was like, ‘Oh, I can’t do this without Charlie.’ But the late Watts convinced Richards before his death that Jordan was a worthy successor.

“I just make songs”

Richards was unable to say in what format the new songs will be released. Speaking to Matt Wilkinson for the Rolling Stones podcast, the guitarist revealed his humble side. “I definitely just make songs and then we take care of how they come out, right?” said the 78-year-old.

The Rolling Stones end their “Sixty Tour” on Wednesday (03 August) at the Waldbühne in Berlin. Mick Jagger was previously on a sightseeing trip in the capital. On Twitter he posted a photo in front of the Brandenburg Gate. By the way, the Stones last played on the Waldbühne in 2014.
