Kehl denies reports of Haaland moving to Man City

DORTMUND (dpa-AFX) – Borussia Dortmund’s (BVB (Borussia Dortmund)) licensed player boss Sebastian Kehl has denied reports that a transfer from Erling Haaland to Manchester City is said to be imminent. “No,” Kehl answered on Saturday on Sky TV before BVB’s game against VfL Wolfsburg when asked if anyone had already registered. Several media reported on Saturday that city coach Pep Guardiola was planning with the 21-year-old Norwegian for the coming season.

“We have an exit clause that is known and there is a deadline,” Kehl said, without giving any details about this deadline. Haaland can leave BVB this summer because of an exit clause for 75 million euros, his contract actually runs until 2024. “We want a decision as soon as possible,” said Kehl.

Kehl described the statements by Dortmund coach Marco Rose on how to deal with Haaland’s injury as “a bit unhappy”. Rose had said about Haaland’s chances to play against VfL: “He bites his teeth, then maybe takes a pill before the game and then it should work.” The Norwegian is in the starting XI.

Kehl stressed that the club was “very, very responsible” with the Norwegian. “The plan is that Erling always wants to play and you always try to find a good decision together with him,” said the ex-professional, who will act as sports director in the future./mj/DP/zb
