Kehl defends himself against Hamann’s tough BVB scolding

Sebastian Kehl has defended himself against the criticism that has arisen that BVB is too uncritical about its own performance. Ex-national player Dietmar Hamann had previously struck this notch and accused those responsible at Borussia Dortmund of mishandling the 1-2 defeat in the Champions League at Manchester City.

In Hamann’s opinion, BVB was too uncritical with the game against the Citizens when the black and yellow gave up a 1-0 lead in the final phase and narrowly lost in the end.

“In my opinion, this lack of self-criticism is fatal,” was one of the statements made by today’s TV expert.

Shortly before the Bundesliga cracker between BVB and FC Schalke on Saturday afternoon, BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl commented on Hamann’s statements.

On the “Sky” microphone he made it clear: “I think you have to differentiate! Of course we all want to win in the end,” said Kehl, whose club had beaten Werder Bremen 2-3 in the past few weeks, 3-0 against RB Leipzig and just lost 2-1 to Manchester City.

BVB is criticized for dealing with defeats

“You have to make a distinction if you lose 3-0 in Leipzig. We were also very self-critical there. But if you lose almost 2-1 at ManCity, you have to classify it differently. Didi did that (Dietmar Hamann, editor’s note .) not made it with his statement. […] He is an outsider and therefore not necessarily close,” said the BVB maker, who took over the sporting director post from Michael Zorc in the summer.

The players and managers at Borussia Dortmund have been accused several times in the recent past of not being critical enough about their own performance.

Above all, dealing with sporting setbacks and defeats was repeatedly rated as too careless. The BVB stars always lack the will to win such competitive duels like the one at Manchester City with all their might. Sebastian Kehl has now defended himself against this criticism with his statements.
