Kehl believes in transfer “movement” in Dortmund

Although the season is already in full swing, Borussia Dortmund’s squad has not yet been finalised. Up to three players should leave BVB – if possible – promptly. Sports director Sebastian Kehl believes that a lot will happen before the transfer closes in just over a week.

At the weekend Borussia Dortmund lost 2:3 in the home game against Werder Bremen after a 2:0 lead. While BVB is still licking its sporting wounds and digesting the annoyance of the late defeat, sports director Sebastian Kehl must already be looking forward to the transfer final sprint. Because on September 1st the exchange window closes at 6:00 p.m.

According to various media reports, the black and yellow still want to give up to three players. These are Manuel Akanji, Nico Schulz and Thomas Meunier. Whether the Dortmunders can sell all three prank candidates is open. Kehl agrees. “Basically, I don’t know what’s going to happen this week,” said the Dortmund sports director of “WAZ”.

BVB sports director Kehl still has a lot to do

Nevertheless, Kehl is optimistic that BVB will not be left with the trio. “But I do believe that there is still movement in the transfer market,” the 42-year-old focused on the coming days and towards Deadline Day.

The sales conditions for Kehl are very different for the three players mentioned. Right-back Meunier seems dissatisfied with his new role as a reservist, according to the “WAZ”. “Bild” recently reported that the Belgian suddenly wants to leave. The 30-year-old described the report with a comment on Instagram as “propaganda”, but the signs still point to farewell. However, the black and yellow would then probably have to hire a replacement.

Akanji and Schulz have long been certain that the two defenders should leave the club. Akanji has received reports of potential interest from Manchester United, Arsenal FC and Juventus. According to reports, however, the salary demands of the Swiss central defender were too high. Recently, only Inter Milan remained as the hottest option.

Finding a buyer for Schulz is likely to be even more difficult. The left-back is being investigated for allegations of domestic violence against a former girlfriend.
