Keeper Oliver Christensen is looking at a World Cup ticket

Hertha’s new number one in goal is aware of the pressure, but that’s exactly what Oliver Christensen needs. That’s good for him, the 23-year-old Dane said in an interview with “kicker”: “I like it.”

Christensen came from Odense BK to the Berlin Bundesliga club almost a year ago, but had a difficult first season with a corona infection and a thigh injury, among other things. Now he should give the team of the new coach Sandro Schwarz the necessary support.

“The Bundesliga was my dream as a child. First from Denmark to Germany and then to England – that was always my goal. And now I’m here and in a good position,” said Christensen: “I know I have to do it every weekend do well so that as a team we can have a better season than the last.”

The Dane also has the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year in mind, good performances in the Bundesliga would be helpful there. “Our national coach Kasper Hjulmand called me after the game at HSV. He’s watching me, but it will definitely be tight,” said Christensen, naming some of the competitors behind Kasper Schmeichel. “Nevertheless, the World Cup remains my goal,” he said.
