After nine years at Ajax, Calvin Raatsie opts for a new adventure at FC Utrecht. The 20-year-old goalkeeper had an expiring contract in Amsterdam and signs a contract in the Dom city for three seasons.
This season, Raatsie played twelve games under the bar at Jong Ajax. Three times trainer Erik ten Hag took him with him as a substitute at Ajax 1, but he did not come to playing minutes.
“Calvin is a keeper with potential,” says technical director Jordy Zuidam on the FC Utrecht website. “In youth, he has always played at Dutch top level and he has also gained international experience in various representative youth teams and in the UEFA Youth League. We are happy that we can add him to our A-selection keepers.”
At FC Utrecht, Raatsie has to compete with Fabian de Keijzer, who won a basic place after the winter break. Maarten Paes defended the goal in the first half of the season, but he was loaned out to FC Dallas in the meantime. Paes returns from America and has a contract for one more year.
