One user on Reddit shared how his grandmother developed a crush on The Matrix and John Wick star Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of her late husband. The actress then called the lady.
The 80-year-old woman suffered a stroke in the early 1970s and was therefore unable to leave the house for ten years. She took solace in Reeves’ films, which ranged from Bill & Ted’s Maddened Journey Through Time to The Matrix. Her grandson then told Reddithow her uncle met Reeves in a Los Angeles restaurant and how the actor and his older fan had a long phone conversation.
Keanu Reeves calls 80-year-old fan
“Not too long after The Matrix came out, my uncle was in LA on business and eating at a really swanky restaurant when Keanu walked in with a woman. When he finished eating, my uncle came over to them and said, ‘I don’t usually do this, but I just wanted to tell you that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all your films. You remind her of my father,'” he said. Reeves is said to have asked him if he had a cell phone with him to call his mother. “Call her, I want to talk to her,” he said. The uncle further explained: “He spoke to my grandmother for several minutes and that helped her throughout the year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is.”
“We need more Keanus!”
Reeves has built a reputation as one of the nicest men in Hollywood over the past few years. Spurred on by the 80-year-old woman, more fans have reached out to Reeves with stories of positive encounters with him.
TV producer Andrew Kimmel also documented on Twitter how the actor was approached by a young boy after a flight from London to New York. “Keanu cheerfully answered every single question. The man could not have been nicer, especially after an international flight. I thought I’d share this because the guy is in a class by himself and little moments like this can make a big difference in people’s lives. We need more Keanus!” he wrote. The tweet went viral immediately.
