Kay Bernstein: Funeral march for the deceased Hertha president

The Ultras from Hertha BSC are calling for a funeral march for the late President Kay Bernstein on Sunday.

The mourning for Hertha President Kay Bernstein, who died unexpectedly, continues to have Berlin under control.

The ultra-group Harlekins Berlin has called for people to take part in a funeral march for Bernstein on Sunday. The meeting point is at 10 a.m. at Theodor-Heuss-Platz in Berlin-Westend.

“Hello Herthaner, together with friends from near and far we would like to organize a funeral march next Sunday in silent memory and in honor of Kay. This day will be a difficult journey for all of us and preparing for it is not an everyday occurrence. We would like to point out that “This is a mourning march and not a fan march and should be conducted respectfully and appropriately. Therefore, avoid alcoholic drinks and any form of pyrotechnics,” the Harlequins’ statement says.

“Furthermore, guests from other fan groups will take part in this funeral march, this must also be respected. In memory of Kay, let us go to the Olympic Stadium and pay our last respects to him. In silent remembrance, a quiet Ha Ho He!”,

Bernstein was one of the co-founders of the Harlequins Berlin and was the lead singer of the Ultras for a long time. Hertha welcomes Fortuna Düsseldorf for their home game on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Dardai: “It hit us all hard”

In view of the sad news that hit the club, coach Pal Dardai was primarily asked to act as a psychologist before the game. “Of course, this news hit us all hard – including the players. But the team has made a good impression in the last few days. We dealt with this situation openly. There was a lot of talking between each other. I also talked more than usual,” said the Hungarian before the start of the second half of the season.

On Tuesday, Hertha announced that Bernstein had died unexpectedly at the age of 43. Just five days later, the second half of the season will start on Sunday (1:30 p.m./Sky) against Fortuna Düsseldorf.

“We offered everyone psychological support. Everyone was focused this week. We have a professional environment that allows us to concentrate on our work. But of course I can’t predict what will happen on match day,” said Dardai.
