The World Cross Country Cup was scheduled to end in mid-March in Tyumen, Russia.

Since Russia started the war against Ukraine, all international value competitions are being taken away from the state.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) is expected to announce the cancellation or rescheduling of the Games in the near future. Even before the official news, a number of skiers have expressed their views.

One of the first was Finland Katri Lylynperä.

– Due to the current situation, I have informed the Ski Association that I will not go to Russia for the MC closing weekend, even if I am selected for the team, Lylynperä announced on Twitter.

Also a teammate Jasmi Joensuu announced on social media that it was boycotting the Russian race weekend.

One of the most famous opponents of the race is the Norwegian Olympic winner and Johannes Kläbo.

– The FIS could have reacted much faster and moved the race to Östersund, Sweden. I expect the FIS to work here. Personally, I am not going to travel to compete in a country that has occupied another state, Kläbo told VG.

The Swedish Ski Association has said it is boycotting the Russian race weekend.

Jasmi Joensuu returned home from Beijing: there was a nice surprise at the airport.
