Employees of the garbage collection service in Oss found a live cat in the back of their garbage truck on Monday morning. One of the men heard something in the back of the car and went to check. Miraculously, the animal was still alive, between all the garbage bags in the car. Thanks to quick action, the animal was saved in the nick of time.
The garbage collectors had just emptied containers at the Oostwal in Oss. The cat may have been dumped from one of those containers into the garbage truck. Then one of the men heard a noise coming from the back of the car. When he went to look, he discovered a kitten among all the rubbish.
The men drove straight to the municipal yard and called the Animal Ambulance Maasland there. Two employees of the animal ambulance, Monique and Martien, managed to free the cat from the waste.
The animal was then taken to Veterinary Practice Berghem to have it checked. The cat smelled terribly and was hypothermic, but was otherwise fine. The traumatized animal has now been transferred to Animal Shelter Maasland. There it receives special food to strengthen itself and when the kitten is sufficiently warmed up, a bath to freshen up.
The animal shelter is looking for the owner of the animal. That is not easy, because the cat is not chipped. It is also not yet known whether it is a male or female.
