IS Katie SchideAmerican athlete, the winner of Chamonix (France) in 23 hours and 15 minutes. A race, L’Ultra-Trail du Mont Blancwhich develops on the three sides, the French, Italian and Swiss of Mont Blanc, for a total of 170 kilometers and 10 thousand meters of positive difference in height. The runner in the general classification finished 22nd overall, less than four hours from Kilian Jornet Burgadawhich conquered the male test in 19 hours and 49 minutes (fourth win for him).

Katie won in a heart-pounding race that saw her fight hard with Canadian athlete Marianne Hogan. Supported by the cheering of a crowd of fans all along the route, the ultra-runner started very fast, immediately gaining a good advantage, kept running with great intensity until late at night. In the morning, however, that initial lead thinned, with Hogan working hard until she got it back. In the last 30 km, however, Katie recovered ground and managed to break away from her direct antagonist, taking 20 minutes of advantage at the exit of Vallorcine and making one last great effort to Chamonix to win her first title.

Born in Maine (USA), Katie discovered trail-running during her summer college holidays, working in the mountain huts of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She fell in love with the rocky trails and started competing once she moved to Europe. Last year at the UTMB she finished sixth, today the most beautiful victory of her.

the words
