American swimmer Katie Ledecky has broken the world record in the 1500m freestyle in the short course. At the World Cup competitions in Toronto, Canada, the seven-time Olympic champion achieved a time of 15.08.24, with which the 25-year-old swimmer almost 10 seconds below the old top time (15.18.01) of the German Sarah Wellbrock.
