Kati Packalén is the new CEO of the Basketball Association. He follows on the mission Ari Tammivaaraawho will start at the turn of the year 2025 as the general secretary of the EC home championships.

Packalén has worked for the logistics company PostNord for more than a decade, among other things as brand experience director.

Packalén has a long history in the sport as a player, coach and club employee in Tampere Pyrinnö. He has been the chairman of the club’s basketball division and is currently working as the club’s Unified coach and the sports coach of the Paralympic Association. As a coach, he won the B-girls’ Finnish championship in 2016.

– There is a great upswing in basketball and the right things have been done for years. The most visible results have recently been on display in Susijeng’s great success at the European Championships, which the entire basketball community can be proud of, he says, according to the association’s press release.

Packalén also had a personal connection to Susijeng’s EC composition, as his son Miro Little made his men’s competition debut in Germany. Classified as the great hope of Finnish basketball next season, Little, 18, plays at Sunrise Christian Academy in the United States.

Packalén’s season in the Basketball Association begins on October 3, 2022.
