Katharina Althaus in Lillehammer with the weakest result of the season

Ski jumper Katharina Althaus achieved her weakest result of the winter in her first competition after winning the Olympic silver medal and the following Corona break.

The woman from Oberstdorf did not get past tenth place at the World Cup in Lillehammer. Victory in the second of four competitions on the Norwegian Raw Air Tour went to Austrian Marita Kramer.

National coach Maximilian Mechler was still satisfied with Althaus: “Of course, the jumps were not as good as she can be. But after ten days of quarantine, she fought her way through really well. She got up at three o’clock this morning and flew here, so she has a good one made competition.”

Althaus had missed the competition on Wednesday and had traveled to Norway at short notice after a negative corona test.

Suit trouble about Seyfarth

The same applied to teammate Juliane Seyfarth, for whom the trip was even less worthwhile: The 32-year-old was disqualified because of a suit that did not conform to the rules and thus suffered the same fate as Althaus in the Olympic mixed competition.

Kramer, the leader in the overall World Cup, took her seventh win of the season ahead of Nika Kriznar and Olympic champion Ursa Bogataj (both from Slovenia).

On the other hand, in the overall Raw Air ranking, Kriznar is ahead of Bogataj and Kramer after six of twelve jumps. Althaus and Seyfarth had no chance of winning the prize money of 45,000 euros anyway because they missed the start. It continues on Friday with the mixed competition in Oslo.
