Kastaneer is left with ‘sour feeling’ from match against Utrecht: ‘Could sink through the ground’ | Top sport region

PEC attacker Gervane Kastaneer has a sour feeling from the game against FC Utrecht. His team did not go further than a draw (1-1) and therefore drops to the last place in the ranking. “We have to pick ourselves up quickly.”

Kastaneer is perhaps most disappointed because, in his opinion, PEC was not sufficiently rewarded for the effort it gave. ,,The feeling that prevails with me is that we were better and still lost points, because of a goal against in a corner where we were not sharp. We all fought together, what else can you do?”

Disapproved

The attacker saw his own goal just before half time disallowed by the video referee for offside. It happened to Kastaneer before this season. ,,I thought the goal counted, I thought Chardi Landu was next to me. They let you celebrate the goal first and then it is disallowed.”

Because competitors Fortuna Sittard, Willem II and Sparta did win, PEC Zwolle drops to last place in the ranking despite the point and the team can already be relegated next Wednesday. ,,If you look at the livescore, you can sink through the ground,” says Kastaneer.

Just a bit bummed

,,It’s just very disappointing that you are missing points. I don’t really know what to say at all. Just pussy. We may be disappointed with this for a while, but we have to pick ourselves up against Sparta on Wednesday.”

Kastaneer keeps faith in a good outcome. ,,We have often shown that we are better than many other clubs. We have to be able to maintain ourselves, if necessary via the play-offs. I believe in that.”
