Oulun Kärpät will be strengthened next season with Kasper Björkqvist. The 24-year-old winger joins the Oulu club after six years in North America on a two-year contract.
Last season, Björkqvist made his NHL debut in the ranks of the Pittsburgh Penguins. In his six matches, he scored one goal. For most of his games, he played for the AHL in the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins. Björkqvist is the second round of the Penguins in 2016.
Fly Sports Director Harri Aho describes Björkqvist as an excellent fighter and team player in the club’s press release.
– Kappe is a powerful striker who does not shy away from dueling.
Power is guaranteed to be found. Björkqvist has become known for his iron physics. In the story of Iltalehti in 2019, Björkqvist’s wild reading was told. In the draw, the repetition is 140 kilos, the pull-out result is 240 kilos, the front squat 165 kilos and in the front squat four sets at 150 kilos.
The flies have strengthened their ranks for the coming season. Among other things, they have joined the team Marko Anttila, Joonas Kemppainen, David Rundblad and Teemu Turunen.
