Karmine Corp has won the European League of Legends European Masters tournament for the third consecutive year. In the final against French rivals LDLC OL, the team only stumbled briefly and won 3-1.
“We’ve had to show a lot of mental toughness in difficult moments this year and that hasn’t been the case at LDLC,” said Kcorp’s star botlaner Martin “Rekkles” Larsson in the post-match interview. “The difficulties helped us become the team we are now and we were able to show the best version of ourselves.”
As the defending champions, Kcorp was a top favorite for the second division title under the LEC, but had only managed third place in the domestic LFL in the playoffs. But that was probably also due to the strength of the league, which now had three of the four semi-finalists at the EU Masters.
In the final, too, there was a French duel against the champion team LDLC OL, which Kcorp had also defeated in the LFL and so far have not been defeated in the current tournament. LDLC continued that streak in a closely fought first game, with a Baron making the difference in the end.
Kcorp stronger in competitive games
Kcorp improved in the second game, but LDLC kept pushing and were the better team at times. Despite being behind, Kcorp was able to equalize with the Ancestral Dragon and took the lead after a convincing third game.
Only one game was missing to win the title again. LDLC held the fourth game even for a long time, but a battle for the Elder Dragon broke the challenger’s neck. For Rekkles, Kcorp’s win in the finals was his first EU Masters win after four LEC titles.
