Karlien Sleper sixteenth at monobob
Karlien Sleper finished sixteenth in the monobob on Sunday. It is the first time that the women’s event will be held at the Olympics. A total of twenty participants took part in the race.
On the first lap, Sleper needed 1.05.88 to complete the race. In the second race she was slightly slower with 1.06.59. These Games, the Dutch was not counted among the favorites, but her sixteenth place will feel like a disappointment: in the training sessions prior to the competition, the 29-year-old athlete did better every time.
Kaillie Humphries is in first place after two races. The American previously played for Canada, with which she won two Olympic golds, but switched to Team USA. The third and fourth race will follow on Monday and the medals will be distributed on the basis of the final standings.
