Javier Milei declared a patrimony of 206 million pesos in 2024. The figure represents an increase of 64% compared to the previous year due to the revaluation of his department and cars, since the president did not acquire new goods last year or had financial movements. However, curiously, Milei lost money since her patrimonial growth was lower than inflation. When comparing it with inflation that, in 2024, was 117%. In the affidavit the properties are declared to fiscal value which causes a distortion towards the decline when calculating the real assets. Information draws attention to the contrast between the president’s figure and professional career. Milei worked for more than two decades in sectors with high income: passed through the Central Bank, HSBC, Maximum AFJP, the Broda and Corporation América study. In addition, he was a teacher, media and lecturer economist. In several interviews he pointed out that he charged between $ 10 and $ 25,000 per talk. He also acknowledged that he invested 50 thousand dollars in the cloning of his dog Conan in 2018. His public exhibition in the media and his links with large companies suggest highly sustained high income.
In 2022, for example, there are media records of two conferences: one in Neuquén and another in Asunción del Paraguay. The income from these events does not record a mark in their affidavit. As of December 2021, Milei declares a fixed sum in dollars: 20 thousand. This amount was not modified in 2022, although there were publicized talks. This money obtained in the year of greater exposure at national and international level and also coincided with the electoral campaign. Faced with its professional tour, the declared heritage seems low. There are three possible explanations. The first is that Milei effectively maintained an austere life and did not accumulate assets. The second is that part of their income was consumed without leaving traces in their current assets. The third, more complex, is that not everything he entered was declared.

Evasion. Milei has affirmed that taxes are a form of plundering and has described those who evade them as “brave people.” In different interviews he claimed opaque practices, such as capital, or illegal escape, such as smuggling, presenting them as legitimate reactions to the actions of the State. He also noted that those who manage to avoid the tax system show talent. From the institutional point of view, this position generates a problem. A president who celebrates the evasion weakens the authority of the State in tax matters. The problem is not only how much Milei has, but how it explains it.
