Czech sports media Isport reported that Kari Jalonen is very close to being fired as head coach of the Czech national team.
Jalonen’s contract with the country’s ice hockey association lasts until next year’s World Cup home games, but lately the position of the Finnish pilot has been drastically shaken.
The Czech Ice Hockey Federation was disappointed with the national team’s performance at this year’s World Cup, where the Czech Republic fell to the United States in the quarterfinals.
On June 8, the union announced that Jalonen and GM by Martin Havlát had to draw up a plan for preparing for the home games and submit it by the 20th.
For example, the plan had to tell how the national team would play better hockey. Among other things, the president of the union Alois Hadamczik has made demands that the Czech Republic should play more aggressively.
After the presentation of the vision, the hockey association’s 11-person committee was not convinced of the plans.
– The committee unanimously concluded that the presented concept is not satisfactory, read the release sent by the ice hockey association on Monday.

Jalone’s successor is being named according to Isport Radim Rulíkwho coached the Czech under-20 national team to World Cup silver last January.
The Czech Ice Hockey Federation hired Jalonen last year after the Beijing Olympics, which went under the bench. At last year’s World Championships, Jalonen coached the Czech Republic to World Cup medals for the first time after a 10-year break.
