Kanye West wears White Lives Matter shirt — and holds hands with Candace Owens

For, well, headlines, Ye, as Kanye West has been known for quite some time, has always been available. Now the rapper, producer, entrepreneur and designer polarized with a particularly questionable action.

During the presentation of his new “YZY Season 9” collection on Monday in Paris, he wore a long-sleeved T-shirt with “White Lives Matter” printed on it – a clear nod to and reversal of the “Black Lives Matter” movement that is emerging in the USA various apparently racist-motivated murders by police officers of black citizens* repeatedly calls for demonstrations and thus wants to draw attention to the structural racism in the US executive branch and other areas of society.

Conservatives in the US often responded to the “Black Lives Matter” slogan with the reference “All Lives Matter” – arguing that their own, mostly white, lives matter after all. The accusation from BLM supporters: White people are by no means discriminated against and marginalized in our society like black people, and BLM is about making exactly this visible.

Kanye West’s “White Lives Matter” shirt could now be read as the ultimate satire on this pathetic debate. Firstly, however, the artist has not publicly commented on his saying, and secondly, West has attracted attention both in the past and in Paris itself because of his closeness to right-wing conservatives: years ago he was known to be a supporter and fan of Donald Trump, wearing his red “MAGA” among other things. -Caps (“Make America Great Again”). At his show in Paris, he not only showed himself side by side, but even held hands with Candace Owens. Owens is an American right-wing activist, political commentator and one of the most well-known critics of the Black Lives Matter movement. West tweeted in April 2018 that he shared Owens’ views.

Oh, and by the way, the front of the long-sleeved tops, which the models also wore, showed the likeness of Pope John Paul II, along with another saying: “Seguiremos Tu Ejemplo” (“We will follow your example”).
