Kanye West records in the studio with Beach House

It would be one of the more unusual features in Kanye West’s long feature list: Allegedly, Ye, as he’s been officially calling himself for quite some time, is said to be in the studio with Beach House. The artist himself suggested this, in which he shared three washed-out photos on Instagram on Sunday, in which the dream pop band from Baltimore can be seen from behind in front of various equipment and West in a hoodie. West didn’t post any further information, just two emojis – a wave and a black heart.

John Cunningham is one of the producers of West’s new album DONDA 2. He confirmed the authenticity of the photos to Stereogum. It is not known when and where they were taken, but it is speculated that they must be very current: West is wearing the same clothes in the pictures as in a live video on Instagram on the same day.

DONDA 2 has not yet been released physically or on popular streaming services. West wants to publish his new songs exclusively in his own stem player so that parts can be listened to individually and changes can be made afterwards. 16 first tracks, including those featuring Migos, Jack Harlow, Soulja Boy and Travis Scott, are said to have already been released there. In an upcoming update, Beach House could be part of the game.

Shoegaze duo Beach House released their eighth album ONCE TWICE MELODY on February 18th – a double disc. “The album may have far less catchy tune potential than the master record TEEN DREAM (2010), but it still develops an enormous psychedelic impact in its massive sound,” writes ME author Stefan Hochgesand in our review.
