Kanye West: “Donda 2” will appear in an exclusive streaming player

Kanye West has announced his new album Donda 2 will be released on February 22nd. This time the record should not appear on all popular streaming platforms: the rapper has chosen his own music player as the location.

Kanye West as system critic of the music industry?

The negative headlines about streaming services like Spotify and Co. are piling up. The artists would hardly earn anything by uploading their songs, the income of the streaming providers would be unfairly distributed. Reasons that obviously influenced West in his decision. The rapper wrote on Instagram: “Today artists only get 12% of the money that the industry makes. It’s time to liberate music from this stifling system.”

The price set by West is not mentioned. In order to be able to hear the album on the Stem player in the future, fans should pay 200 US dollars. It remains to be seen whether the rapper’s fans appreciate his music that much and are willing to pay such a substantial sum.

In addition, West drew attention to an (almost) new gadget on the album in another post. He had already used this with his predecessor DONDA. You should be able to play elements of the song individually again. The listeners can thus decide whether they would rather hear the vocals, bass or drums.
