Kanye West: criticism for anti-Semitic tweets and comments

On October 8, Kanye West posted a (now-deleted) tweet in which he was anti-Semitic, ending with the words: “The funny thing is, I can’t be anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jews. Besides, you’ve toyed with me long enough trying to take down anyone who goes against your agenda.”

The Black Jewish Entertainment Alliance then declared: “Yes latest statement about the Jewish community is hurtful, offensive and wrong.”

Actors like Jamie Lee Curtis and Sarah Silverman also commented on Kanye West’s tweet. Curtis wrote on Twitter: “The holiest day of the Jewish faith was last week. words mean something. A threat to the Jews once ended in genocide.”

By “holiest day” she refers to Yom Kippur. Called Reconciliation Day or Festival of Reconciliation in German, it begins on October 4th and ends on October 5th.

Actress and comedian Sarah Silverman wrote the following tweet: “Kanye threatened the Jews on Twitter yesterday and it’s not trending. Why do mainly Jews complain about hatred towards Jews? The silence is too loud.”

Kanye earlier this week drew negative criticism for his White Lives Matter attire and an appearance with right-wing conservative Candace Owens. Shortly thereafter, he allegedly claimed on Instagram that Sean “Diddy” Combs was controlled by Jewish people. On Twitter, in turn, he accused Mark Zuckerberg of Cancel Culture because he had him blocked on Instagram.
