It’s been years since KangaROOS designed a silhouette that wasn’t from the world of sports but from fashion. But now the time has come. This shoe makes a statement, inspired by the style and look of America’s most enduring menswear code of the 20th century – the preppy style. This resulted in the brand new “PreppyROOS”. The “PreppyROOS” embodies the timeless fashion trend Preppy, which defines the appearance and lifestyle of typical American fashion. Some of the biggest brands still draw inspiration from him today. Preppy will always be in trend.
The “PreppyROOS” combines the everyday elegance that is valued in the office with the comfort that is known from sneakers. The first edition offers six color variants made of high-quality leather. Each model has a black Vibram Morflex sole, two sets of laces and detachable tassels made from particularly soft nappa leather.
The model is 100% handmade in the family-run “Hummel&Hummel Schuhmanufaktur” by KangaROOS; every production step bears the seal “Made in Germany”. The small manufactory, just a few kilometers from the KangaROOS offices in Pirmasens in the Palatinate Forest, is committed to keeping the regional shoemaking trade alive. KangaROOS is committed to a lower ecological footprint not only through local manufacturing, but also by choosing recycled materials: the insole is made from recycled PET bottles collected from ocean clean-ups and the footbed is made from 86% recycled fabric leftovers.

From the very beginning, the goal of the small, family-run shoe manufacturer was to bring people together who work passionately on a shoe and create an outstanding product with joy and pride. Highly specialized shoemakers work hand in hand with specially trained newcomers and refugees who have found a temporary home in the region. Passing on knowledge about shoe making and preserving the shoe tradition of the family and Pirmasens is of immense importance. It is just as important to make the family business sustainable and future-oriented. Quality, both in the materials and in the craftsmanship, is the top priority in every production step. Quality over quantity, quality over quantity. It is always ensured that the entire shoe is 100% made in Germany. Hummel&Hummel does not buy shoes from other production sites, neither at home nor abroad. All work steps are carried out directly on site.
