Kampl hopes that Bayern flirt Laimer will stay

From the point of view of his team-mate Kevin Kampl, Konrad Laimer, who was courted by FC Bayern Munich, would remain with the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and be “extremely important”.

Kampl said on the TV station “Bild” that Laimer was “an extraordinary player with extraordinary skills that not everyone has. And he’s also a great human being.”

But he didn’t want to talk the Austrian into it. “He has to decide which way to go. And it doesn’t matter what he does, whether he stays or not – he is and will remain a fine guy and a great footballer,” said Kampl.

Laimer is the preferred candidate of Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. According to media reports, Munich have already made two offers for the midfielder, which RB is said to have rejected. The Saxons want a transfer fee of around 30 million euros.

According to “dpa” information, a decision, no matter in which direction, should be made before the Supercup game between the two clubs on Saturday. Laimer still has a contract with RB until 2023, but has rejected an extension of the contract.
