Kamenovic plays 90 ‘with the Serbian Under 21 team. With Sarri never on the pitch with Lazio

A long, very long wait. After five months Dimitrije Kamenovic is back on the pitch. He did it with the Serbian Under 21, with whom he had played his last match in October. In this lapse of time, it was not an injury that slowed him down, but Sarri’s lack of confidence, who, with Lazio, never gave him space. The Serbian defender was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Macedonia on Thursday. In Rome, however, he is never seen. To the point that the purchase of him was even frozen for six months.

Having arrived at Lazio in the summer from Cukaricki for a figure close to 3 million euros, Kamenovic was not registered before last January. This is because already in the summer training camp Sarri was not convinced of his technical and tactical qualities (he is used to playing in a 3-man defense). The sports director Tare, however, believes in the boy, to the point that after 6 months he still registered him. The fact that Kamenovic is managed by Kezman (also Marusic’s agent, currently expiring, and Milinkovic), could have influenced the final decision, even against the will of the coach. But the fact is that the biancoceleste ds is convinced that over time the 21-year-old Serbian will be able to establish himself. Even at home they continue to believe in him, as evidenced by the call-up with the Serbian Under 21, but since January Sarri has never used him: 9 benches, zero minutes played. At the moment it is difficult to imagine that the Lazio coach suddenly decides to bet on him. However, the international showcase can also relaunch it in Sarri’s eyes. For now, however, Kamenovic has to be satisfied with this long, very long wait. Because one year after his arrival in Rome, he has not yet managed to make his debut with Lazio.
