Kalle Väisänen sank Sweden – The Lionesses

The foursome of the Young Lions was in the balance against Sweden.

Tomi Lämsän coached by Nuoret Leijonat took a convincing victory over Sweden in a training match. With the World Youth Championships approaching in less than two months, the team has taken two clear victories over top countries in November.

Yesterday the Czech Republic fell 8–2 and today Sweden bowed 6–1. Sweden didn’t have the slightest seam in the match, as Finland immediately scored three goals in the first period. It wasn’t until less than five minutes before the final buzzer that Sweden managed to break through Aku Koskenvuon zero game.

Finland’s power trio was a chain of four. TPS Kalle Väisänen scored three goals. Were chain friends Sami Päivärinta and Konsta Kapanen both assisted with two assists. The Young Lions will face the Czech Republic again on Father’s Day.

In the women’s EHT tournament, Naisleijonat sealed the tournament victory against the Czech Republic. Viivi Vainikka and Petra Nieminen set the pace in the first period.

Nora Tulus continued his excellent EHT tournament in the third period by scoring the third goal of the game. The attacker from Lulea completed the 1+7 EHT tournament.

In the Karelian tournament, Waltteri Merälä was seriously injured after getting a skate on his wrist.
