Publisher of Readme.fi Ari Sahanen is upset. Juha Kanervan written by Kalle from Rovanperä narrative book Kalle Rovanperä – The Master’s Story received a tumultuous reception from the rally star’s camp.

The work was published on Tuesday.

– It’s a shame that we get upset. Apparently, information about the book did not reach them. The book clearly states that Rovanperä has not participated in making it, says Sahanen.

MTV Urheilu told on Tuesday, that Rovanperä considers the actions of Readme.fi, which published the book, outrageous. Rallitähti and his family only heard about the book a day before its publication.

In Rovanperä’s opinion, the title of the book suggests that he and his family were involved in the work. CEO of TMG Management Oy, the management company that supervises Maailmanmestar’s intellectual property rights Miro Rousku confirmed to Iltalehte that the book was a surprise for Rovanpera and his background troops.

Was there talk of contacting Rovanperä or his camp?

– Yeah, or so… Won’t the books end up being read to them at some point? The book is definitely okay. It doesn’t involve inventing miraculous explanations. Everything is based on fact, Sahanen, reached at the Frankfurt book fair, tells IL.

Was there a discussion about informing Rovanpera and his camp that the book is coming?

– This project was largely in the writer’s hands. At some point something has happened… It was clear that there is no time for books during sports. It probably didn’t come up separately in this project.

Readme.fi’s website describes that the book is “a portrait of a young driver, but the book also discusses his family’s enthusiasm for motor sports.”

Iltalehti has read the book. It sheds light on the Finnish rally sports tradition, father Harri Rovanperen career and Kalle Rovanperä’s rise to world champion even one race at a time. The cover mentions that the Rovanperäs did not participate in the making of the book.

The law does not prohibit writing a book about a person, even if this person is not interviewed for it.

– Books have been made in this way before, when the main character is not involved. These books often have an outsider’s view of the story based on all available information. Kanerva wanted to package it in the most entertaining form possible, says Sahanen.

– Having written many sports books, Kanerva’s goal was to make a good story about Finnish rally car racing and Kalle’s success. He succeeded well in that, the publisher continues.

Change?

Miro Rousku would like to change the book. Antti Nikkanen

Rousku considered the title of the book misleading because Rovanperä did not tell his story himself. Rousku wanted to change the introductory text and marketing of the book as an autobiographical work.

– We do not want the consumer to be misled in this matter. This is not very tactful from them (the publishing house), Rousku said on Tuesday.

Sahanen did not take a direct stand on Rousku’s criticism.

– In books of this style, the name has a certain style. The back cover helps to explain it immediately. When the book opens, you can see that this is not an autobiographical book. I hope that the book serves as an introduction to the history of the rally world.
