There are currently tenants in the Ontika manor.
Exchange electricity has disciplined Finns in January. That’s what he says too Kalle Palanderone of whose homes is located in Estonia.
In the 12-hectare estate area of Ontika Manor, the Palanders run accommodation and restaurant operations.
– We have electricity on the exchange and the price of electricity has been running at the same rates as in Finland. Regarding the Ontika manor, we are talking about tons per month. In summer, the monthly electricity bill has been 400–700 euros.
A huge bang, and you can’t compromise on anything.
– It’s a completely absurd thing. The final price depends on how much we cold pull. But when in a place like that you cool down, the pipes burst and so on, says Palander.
For example, on Tuesday in Estonia, the peak price of stock exchange electricity was 28 cents per kilowatt hour.
Ontika is also currently housing tenants.
– A big company has rented it. At first it was supposed to be until Christmas, but they extended the rental for a few more weeks. Without renting, the electricity bills wouldn’t be quite so high, he elaborates.
Are you in trouble with Ontika’s electricity bills?
– No, and it doesn’t matter to me even if we are with that place. Not interested at all.

A couple of years ago Kalle Palander sold his Tornion home. Instead, the villa in Provence, France is still waiting for its buyer.
– It is still for sale.
– Do the rooms move in Finland? So. The situation is exactly the same all over Europe, says Palander, referring to the housing market.
Villa Palander in Provence has not been used by the family for years.
In addition to the approximately 200-square-meter main building, the one-hectare plot has a separate pool building where guests can stay, a covered summer kitchen with a grill, and a large swimming pool. Both floors of the main building have their own kitchens. There is also room for a new building on the plot.
