Kale club opened: 200 NH Radio listeners at the table with farmer Arnold

About 200 listeners of NH Radio will enjoy a plate of kale tonight, provided by presenter Pieter Kok. It is the second edition of the Boerenkoolclub. Farmer Arnold Res from Castricum transformed his warehouse into a kale restaurant.

The Kale Club was a spontaneous idea from presenter at NH Radio Pieter Kok, after he said that his wife and children did not like kale. “That made me so unhappy,” he says. Because Kok prefers to share his love for kale with others, he decided last year to invite about fifty listeners to the canteen of Arnold’s family business.

Great success

With great success. This year Kok received 200 registrations. That’s why he asked Arnold if there was a larger space. “You can’t say no to Pieter. So I said: Pieter, come on,” laughs Arnold.

The presenter cooks the stew himself. Kok says that he peeled about 60 kilos of potatoes. Many products come from the region. “The meat comes from Amsterdam and the kale from Andijk.” Kok emphasizes the coming together of North Holland in the event. There are also a number of new recipes that are judged by a professional jury.

Earlier today, NH had a poll: Do you regularly eat stew?? It showed that 90 percent of the readers who completed the poll are not averse to a plate of stew.
