Kaisa Mäkäräinen leads the Half Marathon Des Sables after two stages

An ex-biathlon skier who is still in great shape Kaisa Mäkäräinen39, leads a running event in the desert in Jordan.

Mäkäräinen’s name shines as the first in the HMDS (Half Marathon Des Sables) 100 kilometer race after two stages.

Mäkäräinen leads not only the women’s series but also the overall 100 km race. Second is the German Dennis Soischwho is more than an hour and 10 minutes behind the Finn.

Mäkäräinen completed the 40-kilometer distance of the second stage with a time of 4:29.52.

HMDS stages have three options: 70, 100 kilometers and 120 kilometers.

Finn Heidi Haapasalo leads the 70 km race.

In the race, the contestants progress through the desert by walking or running and carry their food and other things they need. Competitors spend the night in the desert in tents provided by the organizers.
