Kai Havertz talks about the Chelsea crisis and Thomas Tuchel’s end: “Everything went wrong”

The German national soccer player Kai Havertz from Chelsea has drawn a sobering conclusion six games before the end of the season in the English Premier League. The 23-year-old cited the dismissal of coach Thomas Tuchel, who is now under contract with FC Bayern, as one of the reasons for the ongoing sporting crisis.

“Everything that can go wrong went wrong for us this year,” said the Chelsea FC professional to the TV channel “Sky”. The season started quietly, “then Thomas Tuchel was fired relatively early in the season. That always does something to a team – if you’ve been successful with the coach, but who is then fired relatively quickly and out of nowhere.”

After a good phase under Graham Potter’s successor, the World Cup caused a break, and the next change of coach to Frank Lampard was not easy either.

Havertz on Chelsea crisis after Tuchel-Aus: “With your back to the wall”

“Now we have our backs to the wall and not very well in the table. That’s why you have to say that a lot went wrong. We got a lot of new players over the winter who have to settle in with us first to call up their quality,” Havertz complained. But he didn’t want to make any excuses.

In winter alone, the Blues spent more than 300 million euros on eight new players under new club boss Todd Boehly. Chelsea are now in twelfth place in the Premier League and are unlikely to feature internationally next season.

In the Champions League it was over in the quarter-finals against Real Madrid. “Now we have to try to make the best of the last six games and try to make the fans happy again,” said Havertz, who wants to play again after suffering a knee injury in the London derby against Arsenal.
