Their claims against the family of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Saydi Yangulbaev was expressed by the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov. He published an investigation into the activities of the Yangulbaev family. According to him, they are behind a radical Telegram channel that criticizes both the Chechen authorities and individual residents of Chechnya. Its work is carried out from abroad and funded by human rights organizations.
Kadyrov republished screenshots of family chats and recordings of conversations in which the Yangulbaev brothers discuss the details of financial and legal assistance to human rights organizations, in particular the Committee against Torture and Freedom House. In addition, Abubakar Yangulbaev states that people are inactive, “they have become vegetables, sheer slaves.”
Judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Saidi Yangulbaev was dismissed from his post “for dishonest performance of official duties.” His son Ibragim was detained for inciting ethnic hatred and justifying the actions of terrorists in Chechnya in the 1990s. He admitted his guilt, but was released in connection with the decriminalization of this article.
Saydi Yangubaev with his wife Zarema Musaeva and daughter Aliya left Chechnya for Nizhny Novgorod. His son Abubakar moved to Pyatigorsk, where he began work in the “Committee against Torture”. The Alternative 95 investigation also alleges that Yangubaev’s sons, Ibrahim and Baysangur, left for Europe, creating a radical Telegram channel in early 2020. Saydi Yangulbaev allegedly became its curator.
The case took a scandalous turn after unknown people abducted Zarema Musaeva, the wife of Saydi Yangulbaev, in Nizhny Novgorod. Unknown persons introduced themselves to her as operatives from Chechnya, who are supposed to transport her to the republican pre-trial detention center.
In the pre-trial detention center, Ramzan Kadyrov said, the woman earned herself a real prison term by attacking a policeman and nearly depriving him of an eye. The head of Chechnya accused the Yangulbaev family of calling and supporting terrorism and extremism.
The lawyer of the ex-judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Natalya Dobronravova, said RIA News, what Yangulbaev left Russia with his daughter. But it was Ramzan Kadyrov who reacted with threats in social networks. He stated: “Wherever the Yangulbaevs fled, wherever they are, we, for our part, will do everything to find them in accordance with the law, and if they resist, they will be destroyed.”
The situation around Zarema Musayeva Tatyana Moskalkova, Ombudsman for Human Rights in Russia, asked Chechen prosecutor Sharpuddi Abdul-Kadyrov to check. Also the press secretary of the head of the Russian state Dmitry Peskov recalled that the Chechen security forces cannot have a special status, the police are already working on statements about what happened in Nizhny Novgorod.
