Kaag emotionally on College Tour after daughters raise concerns about her safety

Finance Minister Sigrid Kaag (D66) became emotional during the college tour program of Twan Huys, where she was a guest. The broadcast was shown on television on Thursday evening. A video of her two daughters played on the screen behind Kaag. They expressed their concern about the threats their mother receives.

“I always think of Els Borst,” says one of her daughters in the video. “I’m afraid the same will happen to my mother. It only has to go wrong once.” Kaag then continues to stare at the screen for a moment. “Yeah, I’m a little quiet about it,” she says. And then, wiping a tear from her cheek: “Sorry.”

Kaag is one of the most threatened ministers of the current cabinet. In February this year, she was met by a group of people with flaming torches prior to a political debate. Earlier, a man came to her house with a burning torch. He was sentenced to five months in prison for this. Kaag has several security guards around it as standard.
