With a little good will they can carpool: Dana Winner, Pommelien Thijs and the ladies of K3. They all drive from their home country Belgium to the north of the Netherlands during the second weekend of March.
Singer Dana Winner (59), who met in 1995 with West wind broke through in the Netherlands, is nothing less than a superstar in Belgium. A few years ago she celebrated her 30th anniversary as an artist with a show in the Antwerp Lotto Arena. The capacity of De Tamboer in Hoogeveen, where it will be located on Saturday March 9, is a lot more modest. But here too, Winner has a loyal audience.
In her program Painting she brings color to the world with her biggest hits and new songs. “Life is like a painting that can be colorful and sometimes darker. What is beautiful: everyone paints their own unique canvas,” says the singer.
To extend the metaphor, Pommelien Thijs (22) has only just put the first strokes on the canvas. In January she performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag, on March 9 she will be back for a performance in the small hall of De Oosterpoort in Groningen. She sang with the DJ trio Kris Kross Amsterdam and the Groningen rapper Kraantje Pappie in 2021 Tears into the charts, an adaptation of Passion from Clouseau. Indeed: also from Belgium.
Closely followed by Wuppert, Waldo and Willy
That country is also the cradle of K3, which plays six (!) performances of the musical in the same weekend The 3 Little Pigs. Martiniplaza in Groningen fills up on Saturdays (1, 4 and 7:30 PM) and Sundays (10:30 AM, 2 and 5 PM). K3 currently consists of Hanne Verbruggen, Marthe De Pillecyn and Julia Boschman. The latter is the third Dutch K3 singer after Josje Huisman, who grew up in Steenwijkerwold and Meppel, and Klaasje Meijer from Lutjegast.
In the musical, the three little pigs Knirri, Knarri and Knorri are chased by Wuppert, Waldo and Willy, the three sons of the bad wolf. They are chased away with, among other things, the greatest classics from the K3 repertoire. Can also be seen in De Harmonie, Leeuwarden on 1 and 2 June.
