After just one year
Ángel Di María will leave Juventus when his contract expires this summer. The 35-year-old Argentinian world champion is turning his back on the “old lady” after just one year. The offensive player announced his departure via Instagram. Juventus had ended the season outside of the Champions League places – the top Italian club had been sentenced to a ten-point penalty for illegalities and financial tricks in the payment of player salaries. Without them, the “premier class” would have been achieved.

Di María’s goal is still open. In the past season, the veteran, who was repeatedly stopped by injuries, delivered eight goals and seven assists in 40 competitive games. A total of 179 million euros was paid for the left foot in his career – the move from Paris Saint-Germain to Juve 2022 was the first free transfer at professional level.
“I left a difficult and complicated phase behind me. I leave with the peace of mind of someone who gave everything to help the club keep winning trophies but it wasn’t possible. I leave the club with the bitter feeling of not having made it, but also with the happiness of being able to take with me many friends from this wonderful dressing room that I was a part of,” wrote Di María, who “always felt at home”. and thanked his teammates and the fans.
