Juventus Turin writes losses in the three-digit million range

Deep red numbers

Juventus Turin was once again deeply in the red last season. As the Italian record champions announced on Friday, the loss amounted to 123.7 million euros. In the previous round, the traditional club had already reported a whopping record loss of 239.3 million.

The 36-time champion’s finances are at the center of a court case brought by the Turin public prosecutor’s office over alleged falsification of accounts. In the domestic league, Turin was punished last season with a deduction of ten points and fines for illegalities and financial tricks.

Among other things, it was about the fact that the club had falsified the market values of its players for years and thereby embellished the books in transfers or swap deals with other clubs. There were also illegal salary payments related to the corona pandemic.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri’s team was excluded from the European Cup for this season by UEFA due to violations of financial regulations. The Turin team would have been eligible to take part in the playoffs for the Conference League, the smallest European competition. The club had decided not to lodge an objection.
