The Italian first division soccer team Juventus Turin wants to terminate the contract with Paul Pogba, who was banned for doping.
The 30-year-old Frenchman was banned for four years on Thursday because he tested positive for the banned substance testosterone. The former national player has been provisionally banned since September 11, 2023 after a positive initial test.
As the “Gazzetta dello Sport” reports, the club has examined legal steps for a separation.
In the event of a suspension lasting longer than six months, the club can not only save the salary payments due, but also claim compensation from the player.
A contract termination would therefore be a great relief for the financially troubled Juventus. Almost 30 million euros could be saved by the end of the contract in June 2026.
